The Founder / John Danzer
John Danzer is the founder of Munder-Skiles and one of the leading voices in the field of exterior decorating in America. For over three decades, he has argued that the outdoor spaces we inhabit — gardens, terraces, courtyards, and streets — deserve the same level of aesthetic consideration we bring to our interiors.
Danzer founded The World of Exteriors as an independent journal dedicated to that proposition. Drawing on his background in design, his extensive travels, and his study of garden history, each issue examines a different dimension of the exterior world: the aesthetics of the street lamp, the blight of the window screen, the politics of graffiti.
He has written for Garden Design magazine and Traditional Building magazine, and has lectured widely on the history of outdoor furniture and the principles of exterior decorating. Munder-Skiles, the furniture company he founded, produces seating designed to the same standards he writes about.
"The more you know, the less you need." — John Danzer
